Papertrey Ink May Blog Hop - Layered Text Over Images

Good morning, it's time for this month's blog hop at Papertrey Ink. Nichole has provided us with another great inspiration, this month from the artwork of Sarah Langtry.

I made a couple of cards for this challenge, the one below being my favourite. I don't have a lot of large sentiment stamps that go well together for this challenge, so I went with a smaller sentiment for this card.

I created a mask from acetate and stamped the feathers with a combination of stamping off, rock and roll and spritzing the stamps with water before stamping to get a watercolour look. Some of the inky water slipped under the mask in a few spots so I die cut the round frame to cover up. After stamping the sentiment I didn't like the space I had left between the two words so added the grey rhinestones.

The card below is actually the first card I made. Even though I like it, it didn't have the feel I was looking for.

Supplies:
Stamps - Card 1 - What the Doodle - Feather, Thank You Kindly, Botanical Silhouettes (PTI)
Card 2 - The Sweet Life, Birthday Cheer, Filled With Joy, Botanical Silhouettes,
Background Basics - Super Stripes (PTI)
Dies - Std. Circles (Spellbinders)
Paper - Stampers Select White CS, Lemon Tart CS
Ink - Various (CTMH)
Other - Rhinestones

Papertrey Ink SAF 2015 - Mix & Match Challenge

Betsy Veldman and Dawn McVey offer some great tips on matching patterned papers and colours in this segment of SAF 2015. I chose to work with patterned papers for this challenge. I realized I don't use a lot of patterned paper on my cards so this was a nice change for me.

I used four different papers on this card. I kept the design simple and let the papers do their thing.

Supplies:
Stamps - Thank  You Kindly (PTI)
Paper - Sycamore Street DP (SU), Stampers Select White CS (PTI)
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Other - bakers twine

Colourful Card Corners

Happy New Year everyone! Back to it at last. The Make It Monday challenge this week is to create a card with the focal element in one corner of your card. You can watch Danielle's video tutorial here.

I stayed pretty true to Danielle's design here. I stamped the flowers from my new stamp set 'Pretty Petals' onto my watercolour paper and then stamped some of the open circles from 'Polka Dot Basics' in second generation grey in the remaining open space. I watercoloured in a bit with some blue ink (on my first card I used too much water and some of my pretty flowers started to run), stamped the sentiement and mounted my piece onto some black cardstock and then a watercolour card base.

Supplies:
Stamps - Pretty Petals, Thank You Kindly, Polka Dot Basics (PTI)
Paper - watercolour paper, Black CS (SU)
Ink - Tulip, Grey Wool, Sunflower, Sunset, Pear, Heavenly Blue (CTMH), Memento Tuxedo Black
