Papertrey Ink 7th Anniversary Fun - Building Blocks of Design

Oh what fun! The challenge for today at the continuing celebrations for Papertrey Ink's anniversary is to build your project using the various building blocks listed on each designer's blog. Roll the dice to select your numbered item from each list. Here is what I came up with - would love to play again but am heading out of town shortly so this is it.

Here is the list of building blocks I ended up with:
Ashley - A color - Harvest Gold
Betsy - A color - Orange Zest
Cristina - A color - Aqua Mist
Danielle - A neutral - White
Dawn - A sketch - Sketch #5
Erin - A theme - Birthday
Heather - A technique - Watercolor
Laura - An embellishment - Rhinestones
Melissa - A fiber - Seam binding

I die cut water colour paper with the spiral notebook die. Stamped the image from mini blooms with versa mark and heat embossed with white embossing powder. I then used a water brush and blue re-inker to water colour around the blooms.

Supplies:
Stamps - Mini Bloom, Boutique Borders: Birthday
Paper - Whisper White CS (SU), Heavenly Blue CS, Creme Brulee CS (CTMH), water color paper
Ink - Versa Mark, White EP, Heavenly Blue, Creme Brulee, Sunset inks (CTMH)
Other - Mini Blooms Dies, Spiral Notebook Die (PTI), A2 Matting Basics A die (Spellbinders), May Arts seam binding (dyed with Sunset reinker), rhinestone brad, rhinestones, water brush

Papertrey Ink 7th Anniversary Fun - Words

And the fun continues at Papertrey Ink! Today the challenge is to create a project with a 'word' as a focal point. I chose to use one of my 'One Liners' to make a Valentine's Day card for my DH. It's pretty clean and simple, but I like it. I used this weeks sketch at retro sketches, rs#101.

Supplies:
Dies - One Liners, Heart Prints (PTI)
Paper - DP (Echo Park), Rustic White CS (PTI), Tulip CS (CTMH)

Papertrey Ink 7th Anniversary Fun - Trading Card Challenge

PTI is releasing a new line of products designed by Heather Nichols for pocket scrapbooking. The challenge today is to create a 3" x 4" Artist Trading card that could be used on a scrapbooking page or a card. I started out trying to be artsy with this card and had a number of failed attempts - this challenge should have been easy, but I always manage to make things harder than they are. For this first card I used my new Tim Holtz stencil and some gesso that I tinted grey.

Supplies:
Stamps: Movers & Shakers Sentiments
Paper - Summer Stories (Teresa Collins), Rustic White CS (PTI)
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Grey Wool Reinker (CTMH), Gesso (Artists Loft)
Other - Dot Fade Stencil (Tim Holtz), Labels Eighteen (Spellbinders), shimmer tape, corner rounder

Papertrey Ink 7th Anniversary Fun - Timed Challenge

Welcome PTI's first ever Timer Challenge, in honor of the *time travel* theme for Stamp-a-faire this year. You are encouraged to grab a timer and get creative!
  • You have 7 minutes to grab 7 supplies to use on your card.  This needs to include your ink, paper and stamps too, so maybe you should be sure to grab the basics first and go from there!  (You do not need to count adhesive as one of your limited supplies.)
  • Then create a quick card in 17 minutes or less using the supplies you selected!
I'm not very good with timed challenges can be a struggle for me, but they are a lot of fun. For this one I was thrown off by the fact that I could not find my new butterfly dies which I had planned to use and had to switch gears. I ended up using another die that I hadn't planned on so was unable to add any bling to this card (oh well, I can always add it later). So here is my attempt - took me 15 minutes to put together, which is somewhat of a record for me.

My seven supplies:
1. Rustic White cardstock (PTI)
2. Miss Nelly red designer paper (Kaiserkraft)
3. Summer Stories black designer paper (Teresa Collins)
4. Heart dies (PTI)
5. Heart Border die (PTI)
6. Live Love Life Stamp set (PTI)
7. Memento Tuxedo Black ink
