Papertrey Ink August Blog Hop - Touch of Gold Stationary

Good Morning all. Thought I would take the August Blog Hop challenge at Papertrey Ink today. Love this inspiration photo of stationary by Kate Spade.

I had a lot of fun with this challenge - love embossing with gold - wanted to create more but didn't have the time. I used Maille Belles' great stamp set called 'Live Love Life'. Love the graphics and font in this set. The paper I used has a deeper, richer colour in real life - still haven't found a good spot to photograph my work in my new home.

Thanks for looking.

Cheers!

PTI - Stamp-a-faire - Renaissance - Wax Seals

My second card for the Renaissance era showcases a wax seal. What fun! Really enjoyed making this card and plan to do more in the future.

Supplies:
Stamps - Stylish Sentiments: Birthday (PTI), Alphabet stamp
Paper - Rustic White CS (PTI), Black CS, patterned paper
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Versa Mark
Other - gold sealing wax, black twill ribbon

PTI - Stamp-a-faire - Renaissance - Velvet Stamping

Still plugging away here. Nichole Heady has a couple of wonderful videos on the Renaissance Era. This card features velvet stamping. I had a really difficult time photographing this card, with the difficult to see image on the velvet, the silver embossed frame and sentiment and the deep purple of the cardstock. I also could not get a very good image on my velvet with an iron and stamp as shown in the video. I tried on this black velvet and also on some velvet ribbons that I have, thinking they may have been made from a different fiber. I ended up stamping on the velvet with versa mark and embossing with clear embossing powder. I hope it still counts. I used the center of the largest image of the Hands of Time stamp set for my velvet stamping, even thought it is difficult to see, it does look pretty good.

This card is actually a deep purple and the frame and sentiment are silver embossed.

Supplies:
Stamps - Hands of Time, Stylish Sentiments: Birthday (PTI)
Dies - Std. Circles Lg (Spellbinders)
Paper - purple CS, White CS
Ink - versa mark, silver EP
Other - black pearls, black velvet

PTI - Stamp-a-faire - Ancient Rome - Mosaics

Lizzie's second technique is inspired by Roman mosaics. In her video she shows three different ways to explore this art form. I chose to create a stamp using self adhesive fun foam and emboss resist. I didn't have a mosaic type cover plate so used my hexagon plate. This is a fun technique and I do like how it turned out.

Supplies:
Stamps - Rosie Posie, Rosie Posie Step 2, Stylish Sentiments: Birthday (PTI)
Dies - Hexagon Coverplate (PTI)
Paper - Rustic White CS (PTI), Sunset CS
Ink - Pear, Clover Meadow, Smoothie, Sunset, Moonstruck, Memento Tuxedo Black, Versa Mark, Clear Embossing powder
Other - button, hemp

PTI Stamp-a-faire 2014 - Ancient Rome Frescoes

Well, it's 1:30 p.m. and I finally got my projects completed for the first era of our time travel today - only behind by 2 eras - Yikes! Thought I would be able to keep up today, guess that's not going to happen. Check out the videos by Lizzie Jones highlighting a couple of great techniques based on the art of ancient Rome. Great job Lizzie!

The first video focuses on roman frescoes - which were paintings done on plaster. Lizzie uses embossing paste but I used modeling paste since I couldn't find embossing paste in my local stores. Love the texture on this card. Kept it pretty simple since I didn't have any PTI images I could colour and the solid images I have tend to be floral. My perfectionist self wanted to do this card over since my stamped border isn't exactly straight, but I decided if I did that with each card I would still be here when next year's stamp-a-faire rolls around.

Supplies:
Stamps - Square Prints, Think Big Favorites (PTI)
Paper - Rustic White CS (PTI)
Inks - Memento Tuxedo Black, Star Spangled Blue
Other - Modeling Paste (Liquitex), sequins

PTI Stamp-a-faire 2014 - Morning Timer Challenge

Good Morning and welcome to the first challenge in Papertrey Ink's Stamp-a-faire event today. I don't usually do well with timed challenges, but I do try to do them since I tend to spend far to much time making decisions when it comes to paper crafting. Timed challenges are a great way to kick yourself in the butt to get moving. Here is my attempt. Once I had picked my layout and colour scheme from those offered I was able to complete this card in just under 20 minutes - which is a huge accomplishment for me.

I used Sketch #5 and Color Recipe #3

Supplies:
Stamps - Wonderful Words: Birthday (PTI)
Dies - Birthday Trio (PTI)
Paper - Rustic White CS (PTI), Black CS
Ink - Grey Wool
Other - Buttons, 3D foam

PTI Stamp-a-faire 2014 - Meet and Greet

Hello everyone! It has been far too long. With the move and spending all of my extra time with my mom and family I have not crafted in over three months (hard to believe). I decided to break the drought by participating in Papertrey Ink's annual event - Stamp-a-faire. I played along last year through some of the challenges but hadn't been prepared in advance to complete them all. I had hoped to purchase the kit this year but missed the deadline, so I spent some time this week trying to put together some stamping supplies for each of tomorrow's events.

The day will be divided into the exploration of art and creativity of different eras. Looking forward to the festivities starting tomorrow at 7 a.m. at Nichole Heady's blog, hope to see you there.

Cheers!
