Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop Take 2 - Hearts and a Retro Sketch
Here is my second card for the blog hop at Papertrey Ink today. For this card I used the sketch at Retro Sketches this week.
For this card I created another heart accent using a die cut heart, liquid glass (I think this product is similar to Crystal Effects) and alcohol ink. I created a Bokeh effect panel for the center of my card - for this I randomly sponged pink and grey ink onto my CS and then with the tiny heart stamp from Boutique Borders: Love, I randomly stamped first, second and third generation hearts using a white pigment ink. I then die cut my panel with a square die and die cut two small hearts out of the bottom right corner. The tags were die cut from CS and vellum and topped off with some ribbons and fibers tied together. I really like how this turned out.
Supplies:
Stamps - Boutique Borders: Love (PTI)
Dies - Heart Prints, Tag Sale #5, (PTI), Classic Square (Spellbinders)
Paper - Stampers Select White (PTI), Vellum (CTMH), coaster
Ink - Versafine Black Onyx, Clear EP, Ranger Alcohol Ink, Liquid Glass (CTMH), Watermelon ink, Grey Wool ink, White Daisy Pigment ink (CTMH)
Other - ribbons and fibers

Summer Gerbers
Summer is coming! At least that's what they tell us, I am still waiting for spring. Woke up to a little snow on the ground this morning, brrrr! Next week is release week at Flourishes and they are offering an opportunity to win all of the new April stamp sets with their challenge 'Summer Lovin' - check it out here. You can be inspired by the beautiful photo below or simply create with summer in mind.
I decided to use the colours of the inspiration photo and the Gerber Daisy stamp set - nothing says summer to me like beautiful flowers. I used retro sketch rs#57 for my layout.
Supplies: Card is standard A2 size
Paper - DP - Miss Nelly (Kaiserkraft), Neena Solar White CS, Black CS
Stamps - Gerber Daisy, Tag Lines (Flourishes)
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics - Black, R81, 83, 85, 89, YG01, 13, 17, 93, 95, 97
Accessories - Black hemp (CTMH)
Other - Corner rounder, 3D foam
I decided to use the colours of the inspiration photo and the Gerber Daisy stamp set - nothing says summer to me like beautiful flowers. I used retro sketch rs#57 for my layout.
I started this card by colouring the image of the large bouquet of daisies before deciding on a layout. Once I selected the retro sketch I proceeded to cut up the image and after a couple of ooops! cuts ended up with these three image pieces. I think that if I was to do it again I would select slightly different cuts of the full flowers so that each one was different - didn't have time to colour any more flowers so went with what I had. I coloured in the white space around each flower with a black copic.
Here is the inspiration photo and sketch

Cardstock Chevrons
**** Just a note about creating this pattern. When using strips of varying widths be sure to vary the inset when you are creating your strip stack. For this pattern above the lt. and dk. blue strips are 1/4" wide and the white and yellow strips are 1/8". As you lay each strip down you should inset it by the width of the strip below it. So here my yellow strip was inset 1/4" (the width of the dk blue strip below it) and the lt. blue strip was inset by 1/8" (the width of the yellow strip below it) and so on. Please refer to my picture tutorial, the link is above.

Just for You from the Porch
I am so excited to make a card using one of the images from the stamp set 'On The Porch' which was a new release last month at Flourishes. I am especially happy because it was a set that I won! I love their beautiful images which are great for colouring and they stamp perfectly.
Yesterday's Noon Time Challenge for the July release was to create a card with part of it 'popped up'. I popped the whole image on this card with foam tape (it's hard to see in the photo). I used this week's sketch 'rs#15' at 'retrosketches'. I also tried to speed things up at bit by trying to make quick decisions re: sketch, papers, embellishments. This was a real challenge for me since every step along the way to making a card usually takes me an age. I'm not 100% happy with this card but that's OK.

Supplies:
Paper - Beau Chateau (SU), Neena Classic Crest Solar White (for image), White and gold CS (Bazzill)
Stamps - On the Porch (Flourishes), Say it With Style (Waltzing Mouse)
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics
Accessories - 1 1/2" silk ribbon (May Arts), sparkle flourishes (CTMH)
Other - Labels Eight (Spellbinders), Bow Easy, 3D foam tape
