PTI Stamp-a-faire 2013 - Rolled Dough Design Challenge

OK, so not sure how I did it but I totally misunderstood the concept behind this event and thought that it was only for people that had purchased the kit months ago. When I went to the site yesterday morning I realized my mistake but didn't have the time nor supplies to create all of the challenges posted. The gals at PTI put on a fabulous event - great projects and inspiration. So, when it came to the paperclay project, I was supply challenged and could only purchase foam clay in my small town. It actually worked out well though, I was able to colour and die cut it the same as the DT did in the video. Having computer problems can't add the link right now.

Supplies: PTI - Botanical Silhouettes stamp set, PTI - Meadow Greens stamp set & Dies, watercolour paper, CS - Bazzill, inks, pearls & hemp (CTMH)

PTI Stamp-a-faire 2013 - Tea Staining Challenge

So, I managed to complete only two more of the challenges for yesterday's Stamp-a-faire event at Papertrey ink - check out the design teams inspiration here. You wouldn't know it by my work space though.

For this challenge I tea stained a bit of scrap lace that I had, some pleated satin ribbon and 1/4" satin ribbon to create the gift tag below.

Supplies: PTI - The Sweet Life stamp set and Dies, PTI - Meadow Greens stamp set, cardstock & inks (CTMH)

PTI August Blog Hop - Fast Food Colour & Sketch Challenge - Take 2

PTI August Blog Hop - Fast Food Colour & Sketch Challenge

Happy Sunday morning everyone! With yesterday's online event at PTI yesterday and today's blog hop challenge my scrap room looks like a tsunami hit it. Still working on some cards to submit for Stamp-a-faire, but thought I had best get these cards uploaded to help clear out some of my space.

This month's blog hop is all about fast food inspiration. For my first card I chose the yummy pastel birthday cake & sketch for my inspiration. I wanted to use some of my dies for this challenge, so they are the dominant focus for my cards.

PTI Stamp-a-faire 2013 - A Sprinkle of Salt

I really enjoyed this challenge today. The possibilities are endless and with just a few common supplies you can create some beautiful art pieces. I used a lot more water on my card than Nicole does in the video (A Sprinkle of Salt - check it out here).

I used watercolour paper and spritzed it with water using a mini mister before following the same steps as seen in the video. I used Gypsy (purple), Pear (green) and Lagoon (blue). I love how it turned out.

Supplies: PTI Movers & Shakers Sentiments stamp set, re-inkers, cardstock (CTMH), watercolour paper

PTI Stamp-a-faire 2013 - Breakfast Bake & Take Challenge

It's a busy and exciting day at Papertrey Ink today, they are hosting a day of techniques and challenges called Stamp-a-faire. Lots of fun and inspiration, check it out here.
The warm-up challenge of the day was to create a card using one of nine colour recipes and one of nine sketches.

Supplies: PTI Rainbow Stripes Die, PTI Movers & Shakers Sentiments stamp set, cardstock (CTMH), resin flowers (SU), Circle Dies (Spellbinders)

Autumn Colours Birthday

This week's Timeless Tuesday Challenge at Flourishes is all about Autumn Colours. I pulled out another one of my favourite Flourishes stamps: Hydrangea. I stamped the image three times and coloured each image in a different fall colour. I fussy cut each image and then laid them out onto my cardstock. Once I was happy with the placement I trimmed the edges with a craft knife. Love how this turned out. My design was inspired by this beauty by Dawn McVey.

Supplies: Standard A2 size
Stamps: Hydrangea (Flourishes), Stylish Sentiments: Birthday (PTI)
Paper: DP-Now & Then (Teresa Collins), Colonial White (CTMH), Neena Solar White (for images)

Beautiful Backgrounds - Timeless Tuesday #232

The Timeless Tuesday Challenge at Flourishes this week is to create your own background paper using stamps. I decided to use a distress resist technique for my card (similar to Broni's).

I started out by randomly stamping the butterfly image from Butterfly Blossoms with Versa Mark onto a piece of watercolour paper and heat embossing with white embossing powder. Next I took two of my three Ranger Distress ink pads (this pretty much set my colour palette - need to get some more distress inks) - Antique Linen and Broken Glass - and smooched them down direct to paper covering the surface of the watercolour paper. I generally put the Antique Linen around the butterflies and filled in the spaces with Broken Glass. Then I sprayed the whole thing with water using a mini mister (your paper will curl up at this point, but don't worry about it, it will flatten as it dries).  Distress inks react with water so you get a beautiful blended effect - also the colours seem to separate out somewhat which is why the Antique Linen left areas of a beautiful orange/yellow.

I stamped the large floral image from Butterfly Blossoms onto another piece of watercolour paper using Ranger's Broken Glass Distress ink. Using the Victorian Oval Die I determined where to place the sentiment from Picking Wildflowers over the floral image and stamped it with Memento Tuxedo Black and die cut it with the Victorian Oval Die. While the die cut was still in the die I sponge on some Creme Brulee ink to the outside edges of the central oval - the Antique Linen ink did not work for this step since the colour was too different from my background paper.

Supplies: Standard A2 size
Stamps - Butterfly Blossoms, Picking Wildflowers (Flourishes)
Ink - Ranger Distress Inks - Antique Linen, Broken Glass, Memento Tuxedo Black, Creme Brulee (CTMH), Versa Mark, White EP
Paper - Watercolour paper (Daler-Rowney), Creme Brulee CS (CTMH), Classic Ivory CS (Flourishes)
Accessories - Rhinestone Flourish, 1/2" seam binding (coloured with Goldrush), button, white hemp (CTMH)
Other - Victorian Oval Template Die (Flourishes), scallop border punch (EK), heat tool, spray bottle, 3D foam
