Papertrey Ink November Blog Hop - Christmas Joy!

Good Morning everyone. The theme for this month's Blog Hop Challenge at Papertrey Ink is 'Snow'. I am also entering this card into this week's Less Is More challenge which is 'Jingle All The Way'.

I don't have a lot of winter themed stamps from PTI so I went with their beautiful snow flake die 'Fancy Flakes' and topped them off with little silver jingle bells.

I layered a plain white card stock snowflake with one cut from vellum. I touched a bit of glue to the tips of the vellum snowflake and sprinkled it with silver glitter and the smallest snowflake was die cut from silver foil cardstock. A bit of silver foil was added to one edge of my designer paper and the sentiment was embossed with silver.

Supplies:
Stamps - Rustic Wreath (PTI)
Dies - Fancy Flakes (PTI)
Paper - Summer Stories DP (Teresa Collins), White CS, Vellum, Silver Foil CS
Other - Silver jingle bells, silver cord, silver glitter

Rainbow Christmas Trees

Good Morning all. The theme at Less is More this week is Trees - have more than one of them on your card. I thought I would take advantage of another opportunity to add to my Christmas card stash.

I was doing some other rainbow stamping earlier this week and seem to be still in that mode. I stamped these cute little trees from a set that I have had for years in a rainbow of colours, stamping off once in between each tree to add some depth. The sentiment is heat embossed and the stamped part of the card is popped up with 3D foam.

Supplies:
Say It With Style (Waltzing Mouse), December Word Puzzle (CTMH)
Paper - White CS, Black CS, Red dot DP (CTMH)
Ink - Various inks, Versa Mark, Black EP
Other - Star sequin, bitty rhinestone, 3D foam

Starry Starry Night One Layer Card

Happy Friday all! I don't know why but I struggled with the challenge at Less Is More this week. It is one layer card week and the theme is Starry Starry Night - have stars somewhere on your card. I tried a couple of snow scenes involving sponging and masking, I tried a couple of cards with cascading stars and sponging and I tried a couple more rustic CAS cards on kraft with white pigment ink - they all ended up in the trash. So getting down to the wire, here is what I finally came up with.

This card was very difficult to photograph. The stars were heat embossed with silver, the sentiment with black with a scattering of tiny rhinestones on a dark grey cardstock.

Supplies:
Stamps - Rustic Wreath (PTI), Just Be You (CTMH)
Paper - Smoky Shadow (PTI)
Ink - Versa Mark, Silver & Black EP, Glitter Pen
Other - Rhinestones

Polka Dot Baby - Ombre Backgrounds

The Make It Monday challenge at Papertrey Ink this week is all about ombre backgrounds. You can check out Laura Bassen's great tutorial here. My niece is expecting her second son sometime this month, so I decided to make a baby card for this challenge.

My initial thought was to use my Ombre Builders stamp set for this challenge. To test out possible colour combos I grabbed the largest dot from Polka Dot Basics which just happened to be on my desk. Rather than cleaning the stamp after each colour I stamped off two or three times on a scrap of paper. That scrap of paper covered with all of those different intensity dots had so much depth that I quickly changed plans for my card.

To start I stamped the largest row of polka dots from the Polka Dot Basics stamp set once in each of the four colours I had selected. I then went back with the largest single dot from the set and stamped random 2nd, 3rd & 4th generation dots around the rows of solid dots already stamped. I overlapped a little between colours. I then took the next smallest dot from the set and stamped a few 3rd generation green and blue dots randomly over the entire piece. I trimmed the stamped piece with a rectangle die cut, popped it on my white card base and added the sentiment. Love how this turned out.

Supplies:
Stamps - Polka Dot Basics (PTI), Hello Baby (Flourishes)
Dies - Wet Paint (PTI), A2 Matting Basics (Spellbinders)
Paper - Stampers Select White (PTI), Pear CS, Vellum (CTMH)
Ink - Star Spangled Blue, Dutch Blue, Lagoon, Pear (CTMH), Versa Mark, Blue EP
Other - Rhinestones, 3D Foam

No Red or Green Christmas

Hello all, today I have a card for this week's Make It Monday challenge at Papertrey Ink, - to use partial die cuts, and also for the colour challenge at Less Is More - use Non-traditional Christmas colours.

For the M.I.M. challenge I die cut my snow flakes from silver foil cardstock. I adhered them to my die cut squares and then set them back into the square die and cut them again. You could also do this with scissors.

Supplies:
Stamps - Rustic Wreath (PTI)
Dies - Fancy Flakes (PTI), Classic Squares SM (Spellbinders)
Paper - coloured CS (Bazzill), Silver Foil CS (DCWV), Whisper White CS (SU)
Ink - Versa Mark, silver EP

Thanks for looking! Have a great day!
